Belize Honeymoon – Part 3

And this commences our honeymoon.  Although mentally, we plan on always continuing our honeymoon.  This shot was taken in our room at Ramon’s Hotel at Ambergris Caye. It had a thatched roof, a oceanfront view, and a thoroughly upkept beach. We celebrated our first day married with pancakes and mimosas (champagne c/o Radisson Belize City).  I had never had room service, so it was quite a fun experience for me, especially since our food was shaped into a Mayan ruin!

On our final day, we decided to go snorkeling.  Because it was the slow season, they only had one option: Hol Chan Sting Ray and Shark Ray Alley.  Now, as you know, I am a certified PADI diver.  Although I have dove among sharks previously, I didn’t know how sure I was about diving amongst an area named after them.  It being the only option, I didn’t have much of a choice.  I also chose not to go diving because husband is not certified. As much as I love diving, it was our honeymoon and the visibility was rather horrible in the first place.

The sting ray picture above was actually not on our snorkeling trip.  We saw them while we were sitting on a dock waiting for our boat to arrive.  We didn’t see any sharks on our adventure, although we saw a giant 6′ sting ray that was disturbed by our fellow snorkelers.  It started doing its dance and circling up and up and up.  I don’t think I’ve ever kicked my legs so fast.  I soon found out that husband wasn’t scared at all because he had no idea of their fatal stings.  Otherwise, I doubt we would have even taken the excursion!

And finally, our goodbye shot. We were bummed, and rightfully so.  We had to return to the real world. OKC lost the finals. And we had to leave an amazing source of lobster.

It was a wedding and honeymoon that was more amazing that I could have imagined.  We learned some things about traveling, about culture, and about ourselves.  We had a wonderful time just being in love and actually spending some quality time together.  It may have rained a decent amount, but we enjoyed some silly television that we never watch (Say Yes to the Dress and Gypsy Weddings, anyone?).  While we were sad it was over, we were so happy to begin our brand new lives together.

If you missed Parts 1 & 2, you can find them here and here.

Simply adorable! I am loving the hotel. It definitely took on the charm of Belize. And pancakes stacked as the Mayan ruins was awesome. Lindsay, you and your hubby looked great. Funny sad faces! You guys definitely have to revisit Belize. Glad you had fun.
