During NYFW, there were many shows I couldn’t attend due to time constraints. I always want to be everywhere at once, but alas, certain rules of physics won’t allow me that pleasure. The reason I wanted to attend? Neodandi has a very strong view on fashion. It’s about “texture, movement, color, and creating new ideas about fashion.” That’s something I appreciate in designers. I enjoy a visionary, an idealist who just wants to share a creative viewpoint. Despite the fact that Neodandi doesn’t really fit my personal aesthetic, I admire the collection because of what it stands for.
What seems like more of an artistic performance, rather than a runway show, Neodandi presented a vision full of the traditionally individualistic styles. It’s a mixture of new and old, tailored and tattered, and vibrance and dullness. What I took is that Neodandi is the very antithesis of what fashion represents. It’s not about trends or the latest “it” bag. It’s about expressing who you are on a deeper level, showing your personality in terms of dress. It’s something I can really stand for.
What do you think of the collection and it’s meaning?
