This is a little off the beaten path, but today I wanted to share with you my television picks. I was never quite the tv person until these past few years, but now I have some series I highly admire. I generally like the series where you can learn and grow with the characters to a point where you reference them in everyday conversation. Some drama and adventure doesn’t hurt either!
Gossip Girl: I was very skeptical at first. I thought it was kind of a joke and that I could never possibly watch it. Now? I’m addicted. And I have kind of a crush of Chuck Bass. Don’t tell fiance!
Downton Abbey: This is a newly acquired favorite thanks to Hannah and Sarah. It’s filled with gossip, drama, and wonderful costumery. What more could you ask for?
The Office: This will always be my ultimate favorite! It got me through some rough times and it’s actually was one of the first common interests for fiance and I. Yes, we flirted over The Office.
Parks and Recreation: I love Tom Haverford. And Leslie Knope. And Ron Swanson. And April. This is such an all-star cast of characters that I usually end up having seriously sore cheeks by the time the show is over.
Six Feet Under: Although it had kind of a dark setting, it was anything but. I couldn’t help but think about my life and treasure those around me after watching it. And I will watch Michael C. Hall in anything he does. Which brings me to…
Dexter: This show has such a cult following, both good and bad. While I prefer the earlier seasons, I don’t think I’ll quit on this show until the end. Come on, we all love Dexter and his secret life.
Shameless: It has Emmy Rossum and William H. Macy. Need I say more? It’s about an incredibly dysfunctional Chicagoan family that somehow always makes it work. Always insane and always hilarious.
Breaking Bad: I was introduced to this show through a co-worker and fell in love. It’s kind of unbelievable, but in a really awesome way. My heart is always beating so fast because I’m so afraid something awful is going to happen. It will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat.
United States of Tara: Although I am beyond sad that this show was cancelled, I’m happy to have watched it. Toni Collette is such an amazing actress that she has the range to play a butch male and a 50s housewife all within the same episode. It’s a beautiful disaster.
Big Love: There’s nothing like looking into a polygamous relationship, especially when one of the wives is as crazy as the character Chloe Sevigny plays, especially when she is the daughter of the self-proclaimed prophet. It’s drama in it’s purest.
What are some of your favorites?

Gah I love Parks and Recreation. Some of my other favorites are 30 Rock, Modern Family, New Girl, Cougar Town, Raising Hope, Castle, Being Human, and my guilty pleasure Dog, The Bounty Hunter. I can’t even type the title of that without singing it to it’s theme song hehehe. Wow, after looking at that list and realizing those are just SOME of my fave’s – I’m starting to think I have a small t.v. addiction problem hehehe.
Yeah, Modern Family! While I was writing this, I was like umm…this is embarrassing. Oh well, I usually watch them while riding the stationary bike, so that helps, right?!
I really love Downton Abbey! I watched Season 1 last year and just finished watching the Season Finale Sunday. It is awesome! I may have to get the past seasons of Gossip Girl. Sounds so good. I know I’ve missed A LOT! hahaha
Seriously, Downton Abbey is so addictive. I can’t stop watching!
I’m so glad you love Downton as much as Sarah & I do, haha.
It’s even growing on fiance, if only for the accents!
I am a crime show fanatic. My list of shows are The Closer, Criminal Minds, NCIS, CSI, all the shows now in repeats (Without a Trace, Law & Order, Cold Case) I even watch old crime shows like Kojak and my favorite show on TV now is Southland.
Yeah me too! I just found out about this ID channel that has all crime shows. It’s so addictive!
