Christina Makowsky SS 2012

Let’s reverse for just a second.  We’ve all been seeing Fall 2012, but let’s take a look at something we could actually wear soon.  This past week, Christina Makowsky presented her SS 2012 and Resort 2012 collection at her Trunk Show Event.  Although I didn’t attend, I wanted to share the pieces with you.  As a fellow FIT alumni, I definitely have a soft spot for her romantic style.

For those of you not familiar with Christina, here is a short recap.  She began at the ultra-luxurious retail chain Georgina’s in Atlanta.  From there she became inspired to start her own line.  So far, she has dressed the likes of Stacy Keibler, Cheryl Burke, and Selena Gomez.

I really appreciate her line because she takes care of every delicate detail, including hand-fraying the silk chiffon edging.  She also doesn’t mass produce and frequently takes custom orders.  The collection especially is very detailed with the embellishments, the tailored fit, and the exquisite trim.  It’s extremely feminine and delicate with the use of lace, but with unexpected rough details, such as severely distressed trousers or her signature fraying on a silk dress.  It gives truth to the old saying that girls are made of sugar, spice, and everything nice. If you’re interested in browsing more of the collection or making a purchase, you can go on the Christina Makowsky site.

What do you think of the collection?

  1. I just checked out her site, I am IN LOVE! I am still in spring mode from being spoiled enough to wear dresses and sleeveless tops in February. Thank you for introducing me!

    • No problem! I typically don’t go for such feminine pieces, but the detailing offers some nice edginess to it!
