Last week, I showed you some Barbie makeup and this week, I’m here to show you Barbie hair! If you’re anything like me, when you think of Barbie hair, you think of the signature ponytail (seen above). It’s all about height in the crown, a high pony, and that cute little flip in the ends. Now I’ll show you how to do it in a more modern, funky way!
Start out by using Wella Velvet Amplifier c/o TotalBeauty.com. It’s great for adding some texture to start working with the hair.
Next, use the Spornette Little Wonder (best $8 I’ve spent, by the way) to tease your roots. It may look a little crazy, but make it as big as you can. Once you put it in a pony, you’ll lose a lot of the volume, as seen below.
Now tease the ponytail to add some height. It’s all about the curves with this look! You may also wrap a piece of hair around the ponytail holder, if you’d like.
And voila! You have edgy, modern Barbie hair. For a more classic, polished look, use a curling iron to flip out the ends of the ponytail. The great thing about this look is that you can keep the essentials (high crown, teased pony), but change the look up entirely. It can go polished, modern, retro, etc. all with just a few extra steps!
What’s your favorite Barbie look?
