I’m sure you’re familiar with that phrase, “Do what you love. Love what you do.” There was a moment on our honeymoon when we decided to go hang out at the pool. Instead of relaxing, floating, or sipping on a frilly drink, I hopped in and started doing laps. I don’t know where it came from, but it felt like home. Husband (yes, I have a husband now!) even mentioned how peaceful I looked while swimming.
Through middle and high school, I swam on my school’s team, although it was never a competition for me. I just loved gliding through the water, using my entire body in a graceful manner, and being alone with my thoughts. As I got older, it became harder to swim, mostly due to physical constraints. Most gyms don’t offer lap pools, and if they do, you will definitely pay for it. Luckily I found a recreation center one block from my work, where I will start swimming again. I am truly thrilled to get back to my favorite past-time where I can get in shape and in a therapeutic way at that.
I wanted to share with you some of my swimming staples, from clockwise.
1. Speedo Women’s Suit: These are by far my favorite. I love the fit, the fun colors, and the lasting quality.
2. Malibu Swimmer’s Wellness Shampoo: I love this stuff. It smells great and it protects my color-treated hair from turning green or damaged from the chlorine. It’s a must have for swimmers.
3. Haviana’s Flip Flops: I believe these are a cult favorite, but I love them for swimming because I never slip on the tile floors, which is a major plus.
4. Speedo Swim Cap: You won’t find a more lasting and supportive cap than this! With my long, thick hair, I need as much protection as I can get and this is definitely it!
5. Speedo Vanquisher Googles: These are great at preventing fogging or slippage, which is all I really ask for in goggles. They do come in a multitude of fun, mirrored lenses, which is also fun.
What’s activity makes you nostalgic?
swimming is also my all time favorite thing to do, I grew up swimming and it is definitely my element. Even where I live finding an affordable place to swim is no easy task! Thanks for the tips!
Seriously, mine too! Such a fan and it’s such a good work out!
I LURRRVE SWIMMING! I, too, swam in high school for the swim team. Though I did it competitively and am now learning to just take ‘er easy. I need to purchase those Havianas because my Nike flops slip easy on the tile floor. Fortunately, living in Austin, TX. it’s easy to find a spot to swim long stretches & helps that our apartment complex has a lap pool. I’m a swimmer for life! ♥
